"People Will Die In The Next 6 Months To 3-5 Years": how I exposed the biga*s disinformation about vaccination
Most of the material, which is informative and unscientific, is in Russian. I advise you to look for translations or similar articles.
The vast majority of the world is rapidly becoming dumber, as much as I would like to think that I underestimate our civilization. Look at this. Here's a doctor (sic!) talking about how you're bound to die from a vaccine. Yes, I didn't misspell: the doctor will tell you that. It can take from 6 months to 3-5 years to wait for an agonizing death. Among other awesome stories: fetal loss, HIV infection, and the uselessness of the masks.
And here is another video in which the so-called "doctor" talks about cases of hospitalization after the vaccine, the introduction of COVID-19, changes in RNA, and much more. By the way, Reuters has taken a detailed look at this fake on their page.
Sanctions for misinformers
I will probably have to limit my interaction with those who broadcast the "he potentially saved someone's life" stance in the near future. A whole crowd of anti-vaxxers gather in the comments under the posts: "I believe him, they're trying to control us," "heard about people dying after the vaccine," "will watch vaccinated people die," and other opuses. These people, along with their damn doctor, are scoundrels spreading fake information.
Instagram takes the time to mark a post with the appropriate "Falsehood" label, although this feature is useful. Remember how the social network marked Akademiks' publication with such a badge for NLE Choppa's misinforming tweet.
But actually, the promotion is there – that video of the anti-Waxxer doctor recounting the facts parsed by Reuters has already been tagged as misleading on Twitter.
A perfectly fair question is, what led to such distrust of Biden's power? Once again, it turns out to be a problem of the government, which lies, hides the facts, and then people notice these lies and learn: you can no longer believe anything the government says. This does not play into Biden's hands: now the main task of the states is to vaccinate as many citizens as possible. Only convinced anti-vaxxers are prevented from completing the puzzle by one piece, as the researchers write: "the poor and the Republicans”. Vaccination opponents are the largest layer of citizens.
There are the people who write that you can't trust the vaccine because it was literally made in six months and the rest of them have been testing for 10-15 years. Somehow the stray thought that this is normal practice in a pandemic flies past the heads of these geniuses. Recall that smallpox and polio vaccines were also produced as quickly as possible. By the way, the compulsory vaccination introduced in the States in 1905 resulted in smallpox being the only disease to go away completely. This is just a historical excursus of how the vaccine was made, back in a days.
The "I heard my half-brother's friend got vaccinated and died" argument makes me smile. It's a classic scheme called FOAF (friend-of-a-friend) – by the way, it's completely manipulative, that is, you can use it to substitute concepts and convince people wrong thing. An anthropologist wrote more about it here. To hear and pass on is always more reliable than to listen to the pros and cons, because the person you love is telling you the truth, and he has no reason to lie. But even close people can become victims of disinformation and successfully broadcast it using this method.
Fetal loss and gene modification of body cells
The doctor also mentioned that women lose their fetus in the first trimester. And this turned out to be false: women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant are more susceptible to COVID-19, and doctors especially recommend that they get vaccinated. Both the risks and benefits of the vaccine are described on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website. However, if you already don't trust anything government-run, you may consider my argument untenable. I won't do anything to change your mind. (exhales heavily and covers her face with her hand in shame)
I'm already somewhat adept at debunking fakes about the coronavirus, so in order not to be verbose, I'll quote from my post on Telegram.
Let me comment, for that matter, on the "our DNA is being changed by vaccines" idea: if you think so, then please be fair and say so about all vaccines. In a sense this is true: there is a belief that our current DNA is mostly made up of genetic material from viruses from past generations who have passed down their genes to us. In any generation, if we are to be believed, the probability of those genes being expressed is in the hundredths or even thousandths. But there are millions of somatic cells in our body. When a virus enters such a cell, it actually changes its DNA by inserting its two chains into our molecule. But it can't fix human DNA, because the person is already alive; he has a million_ minus_one such somatic cells. The phenotype will not be changed by changes in DNA because the person is already born. If the DNA of the virus gets into the germ cells, it will affect the genotype and phenotype of the fetus, but it will not affect the parents in any way.
One more thing. To those who are distrustful of Sputnik and are shitting all over it, simply because its promotion campaign has failed and it is advertised by all echelons of power, I would like to say: admit that you hate the vaccine, but that hatred is irrational. No matter who praises it, all that matters is the vaccine's trials. It's vector, it's a common and even reliable technology. So right now you Sputnik haters are not being mature.
Not believing governments is a useful skill because it develops critical thinking in you. This is the essence of such thinking: "not believing governments" is not the same as "denying everything they have created and not trusting literally any product”. In Russia, even the most staunch oppositionists are getting vaccinated with Russian Sputnik because they understand that it is for the public good.
Ask your friends to help spread this material. Fakes are always flying around the net like hotcakes, and it's much harder to neutralize their impact. That's why anti-fakes don't reach the public consciousness. Share this link, let your friends share it on social networks too.
