I'm sick of Lil Uzi Vert fanbase
For those who missed the last story about Uzi Vert — there I tell you what he did that made me reject his public figure (sorry guys, it’s in Russian). The thing is, he has a very toxic audience — there are really a lot of them online, and that's what makes them unique (really something to be proud of, isn’t it).
For example, his fans can get mad at a random commenter. Recently on Twitter, under some Uzi tweet, a regular user commented, "You fell off," and a Uzi fan, in a lengthy post, proceeded to berate the user. "Do you even know what is evolution in music? Uzi is working hard, experimenting with styles, and that's why he's appreciated. He's changed significantly since he first took off!" Imagine if you reacted that way to any comment from a regular troll — and that's exactly what this user is, because no conscious Internet user would seriously write comments in that form, without proper argumentation.
Besides, his fanbase — let's not lie, like many other fanbases — always stands up for their idol. If an idol has a conflict with someone in his sphere, the fans are all against his opponent and can't even assume that the opponent can continue to be listened to despite the conflict, too. That’s what happened to Rich The Kid: the conflict has been 3 years old, the rapper himself in an interview in April 2019 (!!!) said that the conflict is over, but the fans still can't forget and are poking around this topic. In their minds, it is still black and white: our idol has good music and personality, the opponent is shit in everything he does. They use insults, mockery and funny offensive nicknames like Broke The Mid. What can I say, decent behavior from a decent person.
Ironic, by the way, the wish to "grow up" — taking into account that Uzi's listeners are mostly very young guys and girls. They themselves need to mature, firstly, by age, and secondly, by behavior: one is writing out a lengthy apologia for his artist because of a heater reply, while the other continues to pedal the theme of a beef from 3 years ago. The oil painting. So the accounts are run by teenagers that are mostly 18 or 19 years old. You agree, that’s not the most mature age in the human life cycle. I'm sure that the same Rich’s trolling accounts (yes, I found it on Instagram, too) are run by the same rabid fans of Uzi. It's just amazing how much they don't give a shit about their lives, that they have all the time in the world.
Taking all this written above into account, they are always ready to forgive him anything and don't even realize that saying "my idol did the wrong thing in this case, shit happens to everybody" is actually okay. And he's had more than enough of those instances this year: he's mockingly referred to Southside's girlfriend, he did his own fan dirty, and — as we discussed in previous chapter — he ran into a colleague with a fist and a gun. What does all of these situations have in common? The comments constantly say one thing: "Genius." After the last mentioned incident the fan-account wrote: "Brittany [Uzi Vert's ex-girlfriend who got into a conflict with SAINt JHN - Nataxxa's note] joined the clown club [meaning that everyone in this club is an opponent and "envious" of Uzi, — Nataxxa's note], Uzi unbothered," and attached a video from the party where Uzi dances surrounded by Quavo and Bobby Shmurda. They have no understanding of what is socially acceptable, that their idol can make mistakes. They literally have him elevated to the rank of saints: in one video he told a fan that he wants to bring his album to a perfect state, and the fan account signed on Reddit, "Take your time Uzi, we know you're a perfectionist."
Comments on hip-hop sources about his aggressiveness are mostly just supportive of his behavior. I'm sure if I take the issue of his behavior to the fan forums on Reddit, I'll get the same opinion: good for him, he's never at a loss for words (and his fists, I might add). What do they recommend to his potential victims? Just to be beaten, so as to go down as a victim, not to lose their public image and look winning, to win unequivocally in the beef. These are the comments I met in the RTK community after the incident with his escape from Uzi Vert: they say that you should have fought, otherwise you would have been a coward. (Apparently, by the way, there was a point in running away if Uzi, because he ended up trying to hit his opponent, even when you might not have any interest in fighting)
Of course, not all of his fans are such people. But there are a lot of them, and it's a collective image. If you are not and you are genuinely offended by this image, it is in your own best interest to do something about it. Change the mass mindset (which is impossible), open their eyes (which probably won't work), start admitting mistakes and horrible deeds. Your idol is not a saint, but the same kind of person. Only, as we have shown before, with a slight (but correctable) rot.
P.s. Only after writing the main text, I was horrified to discover that I could not find any of the publications listed above. They seem to have disappeared or gone into a shadow ban, because they are not indexed by any search engines. Searching through Instagram is a wrong move, so you have to take my word that I've seen these posts and studied them carefully. Otherwise they wouldn't have caught my attention. But it was because of the particular cynicism, cult of personality, and stupidity displayed that they caught my attention.
